A Comprehensive Approach to Pain
The burdens of pain, resulting from illness, injury, or psychological factors, can be immense. Realizing this, Englewood Hospital and Medical Center established The Center for Pain Management, which provides state-of-the-art pain management as an important part of patient care.
The goals of The Center for Pain Management are to:
Optimize pain control.
Enhance functional abilities, physical and psychological well-being.

Since opening in 1994, The Center for Pain Management has improved the quality of life for many patients with acute and chronic disease.
The Center offers:

A Compassionate Team
Directed by Isaiah Florence, MD, a board certified Pain Management Specialist and Anesthesiologist. Our team of physicians and healthcare professionals employs a multidisciplinary approach to diagnose and treat a broad range of problems, including pain from:
Lower Back
Neuropathies
Neck
Shingles
Face
Spinal Cord Injury
Abdomen
Headache
Pelvis
Cancer
Poor Circulation
Arthritis
We recognize that managing pain requires attention not only to its cause, but also to its impact on the patient's personal and professional life. To help patients rapidly resume a normal lifestyle, initial consultations are quickly scheduled and timely treatments are planned. The earlier patients are referred for pain management, the more likely the success of intervention.
A Comprehensive Approach to Treatment
Staff at The Center for Pain Management work closely with referring physicians, who have been treating patients for the particular illness or injury that caused the pain. We request that physicians send us a complete medical history, including results of radiology and laboratory tests, and any previous approaches to pain management that have been incorporated in the patients' treatment plan. Patients will complete an extensive pain history and then receive a pain-oriented physical examination. The combination of this information will help us define the origin and extent of the pain and determine the best therapeutic approaches.
Treatment is tailored to individual need. A singular technique or a combination of methods to achieve optimal pain control may be recommended. These methods include, but are not limited to:
Prescribing or Rearranging Medications
To relieve pain and avoid drug abuse.
Nerve Blocks
Interruption of pain pathways.
Nerve Stimulation
Stimulation of healing pathways.
Steroid Injections
To reduce swelling around nerves or joints of the spine.
Trigger Point Injections
To relieve pain in specific muscular areas.
Acupuncture
Traditional Eastern technique for pain relief.
Cryoneurolysis and Radio frequency Ablation
New techniques to arrest abnormal nerve impulses.
Infusion Pumps
To relieve intractable pain.
Spinal Cord Stimulation
To relieve radiating back and nerve pain, and improve pain associated with circulatory disorders. These procedures may be combined with:
Physical Therapy
Occupational Therapy
Psychotherapy and Behavior Modification
Patients with long-term pain can expect a psychological screening upon initial presentation to determine if there is an emotional component to the pain, either as a cause or a result of persistent suffering.
